Your plane will land in Entebbe Airport. It is your responsibility to book air travel to Uganda. Rates vary based on travel month and departure city, but on average will cost between $1000 and $1,500 from major cities. A Hope Empowers representative will meet you at the airport for transport for your guest house. 

You will be hosted by Cathy, our missionary from the U.S., in a beautiful American style home with an indoor toilet and shower. A cook will be dedicated to preparing 2 meals daily based on your guidelines. We'll do your laundry, if requested. After a day on the field, you'll love relaxing in our home. 

Day 1: Rest & Orientation

Day 2: Get a tour of Hope Empowers Academy & Terri's Home

Day 3: Slum Outreach

Day 4: Saala Outreach- children's program, senior program & evangelism. 

Day 5: Open Day for volunteer activity.

Day 6: Food and fellowship with children. Special Activity.

Day 7: Church and preparing to depart. 

The CDC & WHO recommend the following vaccines: typhoid, hepatitis A, polio, yellow fever, chikungunya, rabies, hepatitis B, meningitis, influenza, COVID-19, pneumonia, chickenpox, shingles, Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) and measles, mumps and rubella (MMR). Visit your doctor 4 to 6 weeks before you travel to ensure that you are vaccinated.

American travelers to Uganda must have a valid passport and visa for entry. Proof of yellow fever vaccination is also required.

While on the ground, your estimated cost for room and board is $35/day (2024), excluding leisure activities and transportation. Payment is due in advance for your housing and food. Half payment is due 30 days in advance and the other half is due 7 days prior to arrival.
